Job Summary

Lead European customer tax statement design and delivery for retail investment products, ensuring local compliance across multiple jurisdictions. Review and validate customer tax calculations (capital gains, dividends, interest, withholding, and reclaims) and partner with Technology to automate statement generation. Analyze new products and venues for customer tax implications, draft functional requirements for tax systems, and monitor regulatory changes (e.g., CRS/DAC reporting). Report to the UK & APAC Tax Director.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, develop, and maintain European retail customer tax statements for a range of investment products, ensuring compliance with local reporting formats across jurisdictions.
•Review and validate tax calculations for accuracy, including capital gains/losses, dividend/interest income, withholding taxes, and tax reclaim information.
•Research and analyze new and existing products and venue launches to determine customer tax implications, information reporting requirements, and withholding obligations.
•Translate tax requirements into functional requirements for information reporting and withholding tax features for software development teams; maintain tax calculation methodologies for complex products and cross-border transactions.
•Monitor and analyze legal changes impacting customer reporting and withholding, assess impacts to IBKR processes/systems, and develop standard operating procedures and improvement initiatives (including tax technology integration).

Key Requirements

•8-10+ years of tax experience focused on customer tax treatment for investment activities, preferably in financial services, brokerage, asset management, Big 4, or tax advisory.
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Taxation or related field, with strong preference for a professional tax qualification (CTA, ADIT, or equivalent).
•Deep expertise in European information reporting and withholding tax requirements, including country-specific forms, withholding rules/treaty relief, and customer tax documentation validation.
•Strong understanding of retail investor tax treatment across investment products (equities, bonds, mutual funds/ETFs, derivatives, FX, corporate actions) and capital gains/dividend/interest/withholding taxation.
•Experience drafting functional requirements for tax technology systems and the ability to translate complex tax rules into operational processes and customer communications.
