Job Summary

Lead mechanical facilities engineering and construction project management for office renovations, laboratory fit-ups, and manufacturing equipment installations. Manage mechanical building systems troubleshooting and support building control systems, from design through bid cycle, construction, and closeout. Handle estimating, scheduling, heat-load calculations, and equipment sizing, while coordinating HVAC and mechanical designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Serve customers and internal/external stakeholders and occasionally travel within and beyond New England.

Key Responsibilities

•Support facilities mechanical design, HVAC, engineering, and construction project management.
•Complete engineering projects including mechanical building systems troubleshooting and building control systems support.
•Manage projects from design through bid cycle, construction project management, and project closeout.
•Perform project estimating and scheduling, and develop heating/cooling system designs with heat-load calculations and equipment sizing.
•Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, electrical, structural, civil, IT, and security disciplines and prepare diagrams, sketches, drawings, and bid documents.

Key Requirements

•Minimum 8+ years of experience in building mechanical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of experience and schooling).
•8+ years of working knowledge of building mechanical systems including boilers, refrigeration, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, fan coil units, VAV systems, compressed air, nitrogen and liquid nitrogen systems.
•Experience with construction project management, including customer scoping, budget monitoring, schedule development, contractor coordination, commissioning, and close-out.
•Ability to write clear technical engineering specifications, reports, and operating procedures.
•Working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMCNA, and state building codes (preferred).
