Job Summary

Own and advance state-based strategy for Root’s personal auto insurance markets across multiple states. You’ll frame complex market problems, set and optimize market performance with objective criteria for pricing and underwriting changes, and drive cross-functional execution with actuarial, regulatory, underwriting, product, data science, and engineering partners. You’ll also develop product requirements, support filing strategy, and align internal and external stakeholders to improve compliant, profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

•Drive domain strategy by identifying and framing complex market problems across multiple states and evaluating strategic options with empirical evidence where possible.
•Set and optimize market performance by reviewing state performance, designing analysis frameworks, specifying objective criteria for product and rate changes, and translating insights into pricing, underwriting, and product recommendations.
•Lead cross-functional execution by planning roadmaps and milestones for initiatives spanning multiple teams, keeping workstreams unblocked, and communicating status, risks, and decision points.
•Advance regulatory strategy by using statutes, regulations, competitor filings, and industry sources to identify compliance and product needs, and contribute to product requirements and filing strategy.
•Build external and internal alignment by managing relationships with Departments of Insurance and other stakeholders to drive action and better strategic decisions.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 141,400 - 176,800 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
•7+ years of experience in the insurance industry, preferably in product management, underwriting, analytics, actuarial partnership, regulatory strategy, or related roles for personal lines insurance.
•Strong understanding of private passenger auto economics, state management levers, rate-level decisioning, and the first- and second-order effects of underwriting and product decisions.
•Analytical judgment to design analysis frameworks, define test parameters, interpret market data, and translate findings into actionable recommendations; SQL-based data analysis experience preferred.
•Proven ability to communicate complex, cross-functional topics to senior leaders and drive alignment and action through influence.
