Key Responsibilities

  • •Own and enforce Pleo’s semantic layer as the canonical source of truth for metrics used by AI tools, BI tools, and analysts.
  • •Set data modeling and dbt architecture standards across domains, ensuring clean, layered, well-tested implementations.
  • •Build and run an Analytics Engineering community of practice through code reviews, shared patterns, documentation, and onboarding.
  • •Lead AI-native, AI-augmented development practices for data models, including evaluating risk and guiding community adoption.
  • •Design metric definitions and data models for reliable, documented consumption by AI services without human intervention.

Key Requirements

  • •Deep demonstrated expertise in dbt and analytics engineering modelling practices, including architecture trade-offs you can teach and enforce across teams.
  • •Deep BigQuery and SQL expertise, including performance and cost considerations for complex analytical domains.
  • •Experience owning a semantic layer (e.g., LookML, dbt MetricFlow, or equivalent) and designing for metric consistency at scale.
  • •AI-native development practice in a governed data engineering context, using tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot as part of your workflow.
  • •Track record setting standards across teams you don't directly manage, using influencing techniques and clear accountable ownership.
