Seeking an early dedicated QA Engineer to own end-to-end quality for Vapi’s product surface. You’ll work closely with engineers on a small team to test AI-powered, non-deterministic features, build and extend automated coverage, and drive release testing across major product areas, delivering impact on customer experience.

Job Function: QA, Test & Release Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Own QA across the product surface, from test strategy to execution, without handholding.
•Develop and extend automated end-to-end coverage for major product areas (assistant builder, simulations, monitoring, knowledge base, versioning).
•Lead release testing for at least one major product area and gate deployments with engineers’ trust.
•Ship bugs with clear hypotheses and improve coverage where coverage is weakest.
•Collaborate with engineers on testing patterns and use AI coding agents to multiply throughput on test scenarios and regression tests.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 180,000 - 280,000 annually

Key Requirements

•5+ years in QA, SDET, Test Engineering, or product engineering with a strong testing focus.
•Hands-on with at least one modern end-to-end framework — Playwright preferred; Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent are fine.
•Comfortable reading and writing TypeScript/JavaScript to extend test suites and file bugs.
•Experience testing complex, distributed systems with real failure modes (APIs, integrations, real-time behavior).
•Daily use of AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) and ability to reason about where they help or don’t.
