Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform asset management: process deliveries, replenish consumables, coordinate shipping/receiving, and maintain tools, test sets, and network equipment.
  • •Assist in installs, provisioning, testing, and maintenance of DS0 through OC192 services; may install/test transmission and switching equipment.
  • •Troubleshoot network equipment by isolating issues and working to restore network service; remove/replace defective modules and track spares.
  • •Proactively locate/monitor routes and underground outside plant facilities to protect assets; assist in restoration during service interruption.
  • •Perform level 1 preventive/scheduled maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure (HVAC, high-voltage electrical systems, DC power plants) and update installation records/trouble tickets with status and detailed logs.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or GED or up to 2 years of relevant job experience, including 1+ years network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
  • •Entry-level technician experience/knowledge in at least one discipline: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), or Outside Plant (fiber locating, OTDR, mass fusion splicing, etc.).
  • •Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and as-builts.
  • •PC skills with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, plus ability to quickly learn corporate databases.
  • •On-call 24x7 rotational duty, valid driver’s license, ability to work outdoors in all weather and lift 50 lbs.
