Key Responsibilities

  • •Troubleshoot network equipment, remove/replace defective components, and isolate/restore network service using appropriate resources.
  • •Install/change/decommission and test transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers across available bandwidths; install and test customer equipment (CPE) and end user services.
  • •Perform fiber optic cable locating, marking, and protection of underground outside plant facilities without error.
  • •Conduct level 1 preventive maintenance and inspections for network and critical infrastructure equipment, including HVAC, high-voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants.
  • •Oversee asset management and replenishment of on-site/truck materials; coordinate shipping/receiving of company and customer materials and maintain tools/test sets/network equipment.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years technician experience in a telecommunications/data center environment with knowledge of standard telecommunications practices.
  • •Master knowledge of transmission technologies (e.g., DSO, POTS, DDS, FT1, DS1, E1, DS3, Sonet/SDH), switching (e.g., SS7, trunking, signaling), and TCP/IP (e.g., Fast/Gigabit Ethernet and networking protocols).
  • •Strong technical and mechanical background with experience on next-generation transport gear and critical infrastructure (HVAC, high-voltage electrical systems, DC power plants).
  • •Experience locating fiber optic cable and understanding right-of-way and as-builts.
  • •Valid state vehicle operator’s license, satisfactory driving record, and ability to perform safe work outdoors in varying weather and hazardous conditions.
