Operate and monitor ITS devices like CCTV cameras, dynamic message signs, and Highway Advisory Radios, handle calls, and manage event communication during assigned shifts.

•Use software and applications to control and monitor ITS devices along freeways, including CCTV cameras, DMS, and HAR.
•Monitor camera video and other information sources to detect and verify events affecting traffic flow and safety.
•Log potential and confirmed traffic events, including lane and shoulder closures tied to construction and maintenance.
•Dispatch Safety Service patrollers for roadside support related to crashes and roadway hazard events using two-way radios.
•Communicate and coordinate with agencies, answer phone calls for traffic/road conditions, and transfer calls as appropriate.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED equivalent, and must be at least 18 years of age.
•Pass required state and federal criminal history/security background checks, including the Virginia Department of Transportation fingerprint-based CHRC.
•Pass a pre-employment drug screen and successfully complete mandatory random drug screening.
•Constantly operate a computer and other monitoring equipment, including remaining stationary for long periods monitoring ITS displays and radio broadcasts.
•Operate software platforms and web-based applications to control and monitor intelligent transportation systems devices.
