Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead design, optimization, and operation of underground paste backfill systems.
  • •Develop backfill strategies, coordinate paste plant and distribution/reticulation networks, and create underground placement plans.
  • •Evaluate backfill recipes and material performance; monitor paste fill performance and identify operational improvements.
  • •Support feasibility through detailed engineering and coordinate multidisciplinary teams and technical interfaces with owners, EPCM contractors, consultants, and vendors.
  • •Promote safety culture, ensure MSHA/WSP/environmental and ground control compliance, participate in commissioning/performance testing, and conduct field inspections and safety audits.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mining or metallurgical engineering.
  • •10+ years of relevant consulting or operating experience in a mining setting.
  • •Background in design or operation of backfill plants (hydraulic fill, paste fill, cemented rockfill) or related mine systems such as tailings disposal and mine infrastructure/material handling.
  • •Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • •Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
