Key Responsibilities

  • •Support WHO technical work on emergency risk management, country preparedness, IHR (2005), risk and situation assessments, and infectious hazards management.
  • •Collaborate with ministries and stakeholders to conduct gap analyses and support improvement of national strategies and multi-hazard health emergency preparedness and response plans.
  • •Assess national capacities and competency development systems, and plan and implement measures and training to strengthen IHR core capacities.
  • •Provide technical support to national authorities and the WHO Health Emergencies (WHE) programme to enhance preparedness and response to emerging infectious diseases and outbreaks.
  • •Draft technical products and support knowledge capture through documentation and dissemination of best practices; prepare briefings and presentations and respond to relevant media enquiries as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree or above in medicine, public health, epidemiology, communicable diseases, or a related health field.
  • •At least two years of relevant work experience supporting public health programmes, including epidemic or emergency preparedness and response at provincial or national level.
  • •Desirable: postgraduate degree/specialization in public health, applied epidemiology, or communicable diseases.
  • •Knowledge of the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) and their implementation.
  • •Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese.
