Job Summary

Perform geotechnical analysis and advanced numerical modeling to support the design of tailings and water storage facilities, tailings dams, and related mining infrastructure. Use geotechnical software to evaluate material characterization, seepage, and slope stability, and develop/extend MPM code to model runout behavior. Prepare drawings, specifications, and calculation packages, and deliver technical reports and client/review board presentations while traveling domestically and telecommuting up to 3 days per week.

•Perform geotechnical analysis for the design of tailings and water storage facilities, tailings dams, and other mining infrastructure.
•Conduct advanced numerical modeling of tailings dams, including deformation analysis using geotechnical modeling software.
•Develop MPM code to model and interpolate materials runout behavior.
•Perform geotechnical evaluations including material characterization, seepage, and slope stability using geotechnical software.
•Prepare drawings, specifications, calculation packages, and technical reports/presentations of evaluation results for clients and Review Boards.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, plus 2 years of experience as a Geotechnical Engineer, Civil Engineer, or in a related occupation.
•Alternatively, a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field with no experience is acceptable.
•Experience with soil mechanics and foundation design.
•Experience with geotech modeling and numerical methods including finite element method.
•Experience using tools/software including UTexas, Deepsoil, AutoCAD, GeoStudio, Plaxis, FLAC, Surfer, Grapher, and Microsoft Office; Python experience is required.
