Job Summary

Own inspection reliability and efficiency for Starship machining operations by selecting and improving inspection methods, increasing throughput with automation, and tightening feedback loops between design, production, and quality. Update engineering drawings to enable stable measurements, drive design-for-manufacturability initiatives, and optimize CMM programming, fixturing, and workflows. Lead corrective actions for nonconforming parts through root-cause investigations and collaborate across machine shops to align inspection capabilities and capacity.

Key Responsibilities

•Determine and optimize inspection methods (manual inspection, CMMs, Keyence) to maximize machine utilization and reduce part stagnation.
•Increase inspection throughput by evaluating automation opportunities, standardizing rework guides, eliminating redundant checks, and optimizing inspection frequency.
•Maintain feedback loops between design and manufacturing to reduce cycle times from defect detection to inspection and manufacturing updates.
•Update engineering drawings for improved manufacturability and inspectability, including refining GD&T datum structures and callouts.
•Drive inspection-process design initiatives, including optimizing CMM inspection programming, fixturing, and workflow streamlining; review out-of-tolerance conditions and sign off on dispositions.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 100,000 - 140,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or physics.
•1+ years of machine shop, manufacturing, quality, and/or inspection experience (student project team or internship experience qualifies).
•Experience with precision metrology systems such as CMMs and 3D imaging.
•Knowledge of GD&T and inspection procedures.
•Experience with CNC programming and/or operating CNCs, lathe and mill machines for high-precision parts.
