Job Summary

Build and scale AI-powered products that connect Plaid’s financial data with conversational experiences. As a founding member of the AI Applications team, you’ll design backend services and APIs, implement GenAI features with LLMs, and develop integration patterns with AI providers (including MCP servers). You’ll also lead experiments in customer support agents and agentic systems, balancing rapid prototyping with rigorous evaluation and production monitoring.

•Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs, and high-quality frontend applications.
•Architect, design, and implement GenAI-powered products and features with AI, software, and ML engineers.
•Collaborate across functions to understand user needs and implement AI-powered solutions with the highest impact.
•Design and execute rapid experiments to explore emerging AI capabilities with minimal viable testing approaches.
•Balance creative exploration with rigorous evaluation of technical feasibility, product potential, and business impact.

Key Requirements

•Experience building backend services and working with microservices or service-oriented architectures.
•Hands-on experience building products with LLMs, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG, semantic search with vector databases/embeddings, and agent orchestration.
•Experience with evaluation and monitoring frameworks for open-ended tasks, plus streaming and SSE.
•Strong debugging and monitoring experience for production systems.
•Ability to understand customer/user needs via user research and rapid experimentation, and balance divergent and convergent thinking for 0-to-1 projects.
