Job Summary

Operate and maintain an HMA batch or drum asphalt plant to ensure safe, efficient daily production. Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on key plant components (baghouse, dryer flights, burner tip/nozzle), maintain and operate front-end loaders, and handle repairs including welding, fabrication, and basic electrical troubleshooting. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, state, federal, and company policies, detect hazards and malfunctions, and complete daily production paperwork, sales reports, and deposits.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist the Plant Manager (if applicable) with daily operations and upkeep of the facility.
•Inspect and perform maintenance on plant parts, including baghouse inspection/bag changes, dryer inspection/maintenance/replacing dryer flights, and burner tip/nozzle inspection and cleaning.
•Maintain and operate front-end loaders and access all areas of the plant to perform maintenance and repairs, including welding, fabrication, and basic electrical troubleshooting.
•Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, state/federal, and company regulations and permit conditions.
•Detect safety hazards and malfunctions, respond accordingly, and complete daily paperwork including production reports, material and sales reports, and nightly deposits.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED; or 3–6 months related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
•Knowledge of basic mathematical skills and reasoning to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
•Must join Local 18 IUOE within 60 days of employment.
•Must be competent with computers and have knowledge of Windows-based programs.
