Key Responsibilities

  • •Register and maintain reinsurance claims accurately and timeously in approved systems, ensuring claim documentation completeness and accuracy.
  • •Manage claim operations end-to-end: reserves, reinsurer notifications, recoveries, cash calls, reinstatement premiums, and claims sessioning.
  • •Monitor idle/aged/dormant/disputed claims, drive follow-up to closure, and ensure accounts are linked to aged-balance governance or remediation trackers.
  • •Support Finance and Technical Accounts with claims-related entries, reconciliations, allocations, and evidence for month-end/year-end reporting.
  • •Prepare and present regular and ad hoc claims, reserve, recovery, and statistics reports; resolve mismatches and support audit/operational review requirements.

Key Requirements

  • •Grade 12 (matric) and an appropriate NQF level 4 FAIS/short-term insurance qualification.
  • •Regulatory Exam (RE5) advantageous, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
  • •Preferably a relevant bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law or Insurance and Risk Management.
  • •3–5 years’ experience in claims administration/claims technician/technical claims within short-term insurance or reinsurance environments.
  • •Experience managing reinsurance treaty and facultative claims, including registration, documentation review, reinsurer notification, reserve updates, recoveries, and settlement follow-up.
