Job Summary

Operate a paving screed or roller and other heavy equipment to pave asphalt, working with a crew to deliver daily schedules and quality results. Safely operate equipment within designed parameters, handle compaction and smoothing, and make normal screed control adjustments for depth and grade. Guide dump trucks while backing to the machine hopper, perform minor servicing/maintenance, keep equipment clean, and travel to project locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate equipment safely and efficiently within designed parameters.
•Operate an asphalt paver and/or screed to apply asphalt per plan and quality specifications.
•Maintain proper compaction and smoothing of asphalt and make screed control adjustments for depth, grade, and finished cross section.
•Guide and direct dump trucks while backing up to the machine hopper when operating the paver.
•Perform minor servicing/maintenance, keep machines cleaned and maintained, and travel to various job locations.

Key Requirements

•Have a current and valid driver’s license.
•Background in heavy civil construction, specifically asphalt paving (3-6 years).
•Be an effective leader skilled in directing other employees.

•Be able to read and comprehend blueprints and site specifications and follow job instructions.
