Key Responsibilities

  • •Establish immediate contact with policyholders and claimants and conduct investigations into causes and origins of major property claims.
  • •Inspect property damage, review information to prepare estimates, evaluate coverage, determine liability and total value, and negotiate settlements.
  • •Set and maintain adequate reserves and determine the steps needed to initiate investigations, using outside experts and attorneys as required.
  • •Document claim files and submit final reports for closure; assign and supervise independent adjusters when necessary and advise claims adjusters on handling claims.
  • •Provide related training to field office claims personnel, attend industry training to stay current on legal developments, and coordinate Catastrophe Team activities.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience (or bachelor’s degree and three years).
  • •Working knowledge of Windows software.
  • •Completion of Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) and AIC 35 preferred.
  • •Appropriate state license as required and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • •Ability to provide 24-hour availability for emergency claims service and complete Catastrophe Team requirements, including travel on short notice.
