Job Summary

Collaborate with Central Control as the “Eyes of the Pit” at Gudai-Darri, ensuring safe and efficient pit operations. Survey and refine roads, dumps, and locations, respond to AHS faults and obstacle detection events, and proactively manage pit conditions alongside mobile plant operators. Support production leadership with PSI execution, meetings, and leadership in the field as needed. Familiarity with Frontrunner or Minestar and strong communication and leadership are key.

Key Responsibilities

•Undertake daily pre-task risk assessments and perform all duties in line with Rio Tinto safety standards while championing a safety culture.
•Support production leadership by assisting with and executing PSI’s, leading field interactions, attending plan of day and grade control meetings, and working with the Central Controller throughout shifts.
•Attend and correct AHT faults and obstacle detection events, monitor fleet performance, identify hazards, and communicate safety and production constraints.
•Survey and refine roads, dumps, and locations to ensure safe and efficient haulage, and manage taught courses such as crusher, fuel bay, and park up locations.
•Assist dig unit operators with improving spot times, monitor windrow heights and post-blast inspections, support pit signage and demarcation, provide training, and engage in continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements

•Experience as a Pit Patroller (or in similar roles, step-up positions, or Central Control).
•Familiarity with pit systems such as Frontrunner or Minestar.
•Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work safely in a team.
•Hold an Australian C Class manual drivers’ licence or higher.
•Currently residing in WA and able to provide proof of permanent Australian residency with full working rights without sponsorship.
