Key Responsibilities

  • •Own database reliability across Aurora, OpenSearch, Redis, and the CDC pipeline, including schema design reviews, migration safety, and incident response for the data tier
  • •Improve the Django ORM at scale by identifying N+1 patterns, extending QuerySet conventions, and building CI checks and scalable documentation scaffolding
  • •Operate and evolve the CDC pipeline from Aurora through DMS to S3 Parquet to Snowflake, with emphasis on replication slot hygiene and schema evolution safety
  • •Build and enhance observability using pganalyze, CloudWatch, and Honeycomb, with instrumentation that ties ORM queries to users and deployments
  • •Drive multi-AZ resilience in a single-region architecture (writer/reader placement, failover, RTO/RPO, and broker survivability)
  • •Develop self-service tooling and dashboards to give product teams visibility into query footprints as the org grows
  • •Contribute to onboarding and knowledge-sharing through documentation and internal sessions on ORM behavior and AI-assisted review tooling

Key Requirements

  • •Deep PostgreSQL expertise with practical experience tuning for latency and throughput (Aurora Serverless V2)
  • •Hands-on experience with an ORM (Django, SQLAlchemy, ActiveRecord, or similar) at production scale and ability to identify and fix N+1 issues
  • •Experience running CDC pipelines in production (AWS DMS, logical replication, schema evolution, Parquet-based data lakes)
  • •Proficiency in writing automation with Python, Go, or similar and using IaC tools like Terraform
  • •Familiarity with OpenSearch, Redis, and production message brokers (SQS, RabbitMQ, Kafka) and observability tooling
