Job Summary

Identify, vet, and coordinate commercial engagement and negotiations with Chinese and other low-cost suppliers to help reset Anglo American’s cost base. Align procurement intelligence with business demand forecasts, scan markets for sourcing opportunities, and classify suppliers for appropriate tiers. Support category teams with change initiatives and China sourcing oversight, maintain an opportunity portfolio, and deliver category data analysis, reports, and dashboards to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

•Identify, vet, and coordinate commercial engagement and negotiation with Chinese and other low-cost suppliers in collaboration with category and technical stakeholders.
•Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand category-specific business requirements and sourcing needs, ensuring intelligence aligns with objectives and demand forecasts.
•Conduct market research and analysis to identify sourcing markets, trends, and emerging opportunities, and maintain knowledge of cost drivers and competitive landscapes.
•Perform preliminary supplier assessments, classify suppliers into tiers, and support procurement policy, ethical, and regulatory compliance during onboarding and qualification.
•Maintain an opportunity portfolio, compile category data for actionable insights, and prepare reports and dashboards for category managers and programme leads.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor degree level or equivalent in Business Administration, Management or Engineering.
•Proven track record of extensive practical experience in a relevant field.
•Postgraduate qualification (Honours/Masters) in a relevant discipline OR extensive experience in a role and context of similar complexity.
•Good technical knowledge across the supply chain value chain, including safety and sustainability in supply chain and inclusive procurement.
•Advanced knowledge of Chinese and other low-cost sourcing markets, plus strong commercial and negotiation skills with business case development and investment appraisal.
