Key Responsibilities

  • •Study specifications and measure, mark, and cut boards using patterns/templates and hand or power saws.
  • •Fasten or install parts using tools such as hammer, nailing machine, or power stapler; repair and/or fabricate containers, pallets, Dunnage, and restraints.
  • •Build crates and weatherproof shelters as needed, and insert bracings, cardboard files, and felt pads to preserve and protect cargo.
  • •Pack, seal, band, apply markings, and ensure items are properly preserved and do not require further protection before shipping.
  • •Inspect railcars for loading equipment, assist with tie-down of military vehicles/equipment and MILVANS, and support installation of CIDD devices when required.

Key Requirements

  • •High school graduate or GED with equivalent experience preferred.
  • •Working knowledge of power saws and basic woodworking principles.
  • •2+ years woodworking experience, plus knowledge of packaging and preservation principles and techniques (preferred).
  • •Strong organizational and recordkeeping abilities with excellent attention to detail, communication, and teamwork.
  • •Must be able to obtain WPM Custodian Certification; obtain a forklift license; and obtain HAZMAT certification (company/government provided).
