Own the technical direction of authentication infrastructure for Grafana’s Identity squad, shaping how millions of users sign in securely. Lead complex, multi-quarter initiatives across services, define architecture for an edge authentication redesign, and serve as a technical authority for OAuth 2.1, OIDC, SAML, LDAP, and SCIM. Spend most time on backend development in Go, while driving cross-team alignment, mentoring senior engineers, and improving reliability and performance in critical hot paths.

Key Responsibilities

•Set the technical direction for authentication systems in the Identity squad and lead complex initiatives from conception through delivery.
•Define and own the technical architecture, including Grafana’s edge authentication redesign.

•Mentor and develop senior engineers with technical guidance and design feedback.
•Serve as a technical authority for identity protocols and drive alignment across Grafana on standards and best practices.

•Demonstrated track record leading and delivering complex, multi-quarter initiatives spanning multiple teams or systems.
•Expert-level understanding of modern identity standards and threat models (OAuth 2.x/2.1, OIDC, SAML) and how to implement them securely at scale.
