Job Summary

Join Arista’s Linux Kernel team to develop and maintain the EOS Linux kernel, work with upstream kernel community, and integrate new kernel features across CPU subsystems. You’ll implement features in C, C++, and Python, collaborate with hardware engineers and vendors, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to kernel mainline while ensuring quality and performance in Arista products.

Key Responsibilities

•Track ongoing developments in the Linux Kernel and identify features and functionality of interest to Arista for our products and internal development needs
•Develop and maintain EOS Kernel features and tests using C, C++ and Python, review and contribute to functional and design specifications, and build automated tests and test infrastructure
•Collaborate with hardware engineers and vendors to qualify new Kernel dependent hardware components like CPUs and NICs for integration into Arista products
•Contribute features back to the mainline by engaging with the Kernel community
•Lead and coordinate with a team of Kernel engineers to integrate new Kernel versions for EOS and internal development
•Provide technical leadership across features, projects and tools
•Work with Customer Support Engineers and customers to analyze, mitigate and fix network problems
•Mentor new and junior engineers to accelerate onboarding and productivity

Pay and Benefits

Salary: 123,000 - 191,000

Key Requirements

•BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering with 3 years of experience, or MS with 2 years, or PhD with 1 year, or equivalent experience
•Expert knowledge of C with extensive experience, knowledge of C++ and Python desirable
•Hands-on experience troubleshooting, fixing bugs, and developing features in the Linux kernel
•Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation
•Understanding of IP networking architecture and modern software engineering principles
