Key Responsibilities

  • •Track ongoing developments in the Linux Kernel and identify features and functionality of interest to Arista for our products and internal development needs
  • •Develop and maintain EOS Kernel features and tests using C, C++ and Python, review and contribute to functional and design specifications, and build automated tests and test infrastructure
  • •Collaborate with hardware engineers and vendors to qualify new Kernel dependent hardware components like CPUs and NICs for integration into Arista products
  • •Contribute features back to the mainline by engaging with the Kernel community
  • •Lead and coordinate with a team of Kernel engineers to integrate new Kernel versions for EOS and internal development
  • •Provide technical leadership across features, projects and tools
  • •Work with Customer Support Engineers and customers to analyze, mitigate and fix network problems
  • •Mentor new and junior engineers to accelerate onboarding and productivity

Pay and Benefits

Salary: 123,000 - 191,000

Key Requirements

  • •BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering with 3 years of experience, or MS with 2 years, or PhD with 1 year, or equivalent experience
  • •Expert knowledge of C with extensive experience, knowledge of C++ and Python desirable
  • •Hands-on experience troubleshooting, fixing bugs, and developing features in the Linux kernel
  • •Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation
  • •Understanding of IP networking architecture and modern software engineering principles
