Key Responsibilities

  • •Pull chicks and place them for processing; properly dispose of substandard chicks.
  • •Pad and stack chick boxes and push/pull loaded boxes and hatcher baskets using casters and equipment.
  • •Place chicks onto a belt and handle trays and tray-wash tasks, including overhead lifting as required.
  • •Operate high-pressure washer and hoses to sanitize hatchery areas, trays, dollies, and equipment; wash and foam rooms.
  • •Read temperatures and turn failures in setters and read temperature and humidity in incubators every three hours; maintain a clean and organized work area and follow animal welfare practices.

Key Requirements

  • •Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no employment gaps greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (18 months if laid off or providing child/elder care).
  • •Rehire criteria includes a minimum waiting period of 180 days, and a rehire rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • •Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species and to sign and abide by the company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • •Must be willing and able to perform physical job requirements, including safe lifting, standing most of the shift, and pushing/pulling heavy loads.
  • •Priority will be given to internal applicants first; previous agricultural or production experience is preferred.
