Job Summary

Join a Cardiff Streets team delivering traffic engineering and urban realm schemes from feasibility to detailed design and delivery. You’ll work on local transport, streetscape and highway projects for public and private sector clients, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor colleagues, and ensure safe, regulations-compliant, on-time and on-budget execution.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop preliminary and detailed designs for traffic engineering, streetscape, and local highway schemes.
•Prepare high-quality technical outputs including drawings, reports, and specifications.
•Ensure all designs meet relevant standards, regulations, and client expectations.
•Collaborate with engineers, planners, and technicians across AECOM’s business lines.
•Support and mentor team members, helping to delegate and coordinate tasks.

Key Requirements

•Experience in developing feasibility, preliminary, and detailed designs for local roads and traffic schemes.
•Familiarity with design elements such as alignment, drainage, pavements, road restraint systems, signage, and markings.
•Knowledge of cycling infrastructure, traffic calming, junction design, and footway/carriageway improvements.
•Understanding of relevant design standards including TSRGD, Manual for Streets, DMRB, and the Traffic Signs Manual.
•Awareness of Health & Safety and CDM regulations.
•Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
