Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical support for development of the Expanded Programme on Immunization plan and provide technically sound advice to strengthen evaluation and monitoring.
  • •Support ministries and health interlocutors in planning and organizing vaccination campaigns.
  • •Develop work plans and budgets, mobilize resources, follow up implementation, and help ensure availability of potent vaccines and required equipment and injection materials.
  • •Analyze immunization data and provide feedback on the impact of newly introduced vaccines; submit proposals to extend health-care networks and strengthen existing systems.
  • •Coordinate research in vaccines, including clinical trials of new vaccines, and develop capacity-building programmes in immunization and vaccine development.

Key Requirements

  • •Advanced university degree in medicine, public health, or human biology with immunization/vaccine specialization.
  • •At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in immunization and vaccine development programmes with international exposure.
  • •Experience supporting Member States and evaluating vaccine-preventable diseases and immunization programmes.
  • •Sound knowledge of disease burden and surveillance for vaccine-preventable diseases.
  • •Expert knowledge of English; desirable beginners knowledge of a UN language.
