Key Responsibilities

  • •Advise business and product teams on payments strategy, regulatory compliance obligations, and evaluation of payments opportunities across multiple jurisdictions.
  • •Counsel teams on application of payments laws and regulations throughout product development, from early stages through launch and beyond.
  • •Provide thought leadership on the evolution of Etsy’s payments strategy and advise on structuring payments-related products.
  • •Draft customer-facing policies and advise on customer communications and disclosures for payments products.
  • •Monitor payments legal and regulatory developments, manage outside counsel, and coordinate with Legal/Compliance to ensure consistent legal risk mitigation and change management.

Key Requirements

  • •4+ years of experience at a law firm and/or in-house, with a JD (or local equivalent) and admission to a state bar (preferably NY or CA).
  • •In-house experience at a FinTech.
  • •Deep knowledge of global payments regulation and regulatory frameworks relevant to payments and financial services systems.
  • •Experience identifying, understanding, and managing international payments legal and regulatory risks across multiple jurisdictions.
  • •Strong communication and business judgment: clearly present complex issues and provide concise, practical legal advice in fast-paced, high-velocity environments.
