Job Summary

Perform electrical studies for WSP’s ESSP (Electrical Studies, SCADA & Protection) team in the Denver office. You’ll support protective relaying, power system planning, design studies, networking/communications for RTUs and SCADA, and logic/control scheme development. Responsibilities include running analyses in specialized software, writing technical reports, coordinating field/site work and permitting, and collaborating with project managers to deliver NERC-compliant, client-focused solutions.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform protective relaying analyses including time-current coordination, protection scheme development, relay settings calculation, SCADA integration, NERC compliance, and arc flash analysis.
•Conduct power system planning studies such as steady-state power flow, contingency analysis, generation interconnect feasibility, voltage stability margin analysis, and dynamic stability performance.
•Deliver design studies including grounding, corona, electric and magnetic field studies, insulation coordination, transient simulations, power quality analysis, and motor starting/AC interference studies.
•Design and configure SCADA-related networking and communications paths for RTUs and equipment, including trouble-shooting/commissioning during site work.
•Write technical reports, assist with risk identification and assessment, and support work plan preparation, field/site coordination, and permitting.

Key Requirements

•BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology), or BSCE (BS Computer Engineering) degree from an ABET-accredited university.
•3 to 5 years of industry experience performing design or device configuration in related technical disciplines.
•Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, process, and design/build applicable to permitting and project work.
•Analytical mindset and ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
