Key Responsibilities

•Contribute to Core Infrastructure: Help build and maintain the core infrastructure that serves as the backbone for Smartsheet; ensure foundational reliability, stability, and performance.
•Collaborate via Mob Programming: Work in real-time with the team as both driver and navigator, contributing to collective code ownership.
•Contribute to Database & Infrastructure Reliability: Help manage and upgrade large-scale database infrastructure, replication topologies, and automate operations using AWS, Golang, MySQL, Terraform, Temporal, and GitLab-CI.
•Practice High-Quality Engineering: Apply Test-Driven Development to ensure resilience before production and participate in team retrospectives and learning activities.
•Participate in On-Call Rotations: Share responsibility for operational health as part of a supportive on-call rotation.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 125,000 - 175,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Foundational coding skills with backend development experience in at least one modern language (Go is a plus; Java or Python also acceptable).
•Interest in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and understanding of database internals and reliability (MySQL).
•Collaborative mindset and comfort with mob programming, test-driven development, and shared system ownership.
•Strong problem solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in large-scale systems.
•Excellent communication skills and a BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
