Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead, mentor, and grow a propulsion design team across thermal, structural/mechanical, CFD, and CAD/design functions.
  • •Make or approve key propulsion feed/pressure system design decisions and drive design-to-requirements traceability for mass, thermal, and safety margins.
  • •Oversee steady-state and transient thermal analyses and review/approve thermal models with correlation to test data.
  • •Direct mechanical design of propulsion structures and brackets, including FEA/hand analysis to verify structural margins and resolve design anomalies.
  • •Define CAD and documentation/configuration control standards (model maturity gates, drawing release, master model/BOM) and coordinate propulsion interfaces with adjacent subsystems.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of hands-on propulsion system design experience for launch vehicles, spacecraft, or space capsules, with exposure to liquid propulsion architectures.
  • •Ability to lead and critically review work across thermal, structural, and mechanical domains.
  • •Track record managing small-to-mid-size engineering teams in a hardware-delivery environment while developing junior engineers.
  • •Experience running or supervising thermal (Thermal Desktop, ANSYS or equivalent) and structural analyses (NASTRAN or equivalent) plus CAD environments (CATIA, NX or equivalent).
  • •Experience managing system-level trades and interfaces and facilitating formal design review processes.
