Own the operational health of Tabby’s primary databases while working embedded with the Database Engineers (DBA) group in Infrastructure. Investigate slow PostgreSQL queries, review DDL/DML changes, and support backup/restore, replication, migrations, and cutovers. Build observability for performance and replication lag, maintain runbooks, and assist with secure data handling reviews. Work on real production tasks under senior review in Riyadh.

Key Responsibilities

•Investigate slow PostgreSQL queries by analyzing execution plans and statistics, proposing index/query changes, and validating impact in staging.
•Review DDL/DML change requests with attention to lock implications, backfill safety, rollout/rollback strategy.
•Support backup and point-in-time-recovery procedures, including restore drills.
•Contribute to replication operations (streaming replicas, promotion runbooks, replica lag investigations, connection pool tuning) and assist with migrations/cutovers.
•Build/maintain observability and runbooks, triage capacity issues, and participate in on-call shadowing alongside senior engineers.

•Working knowledge of at least one programming/scripting language (Python, Go, or Bash).
•Solid SQL skills, including joins, aggregation, window functions, CTEs, and subqueries.

•Conceptual understanding of query planning and reading execution plans (EXPLAIN, EXPLAIN ANALYZE).
•Familiarity with Linux command line/POSIX-like environments, Git workflows, and English for documentation and team communication.
