Job Summary

Sample asphalt product and perform quality control testing to ensure materials meet required specifications. Coordinate daily/weekly scheduling with management, plant personnel, crew members, and Department of Transportation inspectors to obtain samples and mix designs. Evaluate test results, address problems as they arise, prepare and submit documentation to quality control personnel, and maintain safety and ethical standards following company requirements and OSHA guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

•Sample asphalt product to ensure it meets required tests and specifications.
•Coordinate and schedule sampling activities with internal teams and Department of Transportation inspectors.
•Evaluate test results and address problems when they arise.
•Prepare and submit proper documentation to the appropriate quality control personnel.
•Adhere to PPE requirements and follow safety/ethical standards, including OSHA guidelines.

Key Requirements

•Coordinate daily/weekly scheduling with management, plant personnel, crew members, and Department of Transportation inspectors to obtain samples and mix designs.
•Maintain a clear understanding of asphalt procedures/production.
•Serve as a self-motivated, cooperative team member reporting to the Quality Control Manager to ensure quality control specifications and production schedules/estimates are met.
•Follow safety and ethical standards required by the company and OSHA guidelines, including PPE policies.
•Have VA Asphalt Lab Certifications Level 1 and 2 (Level 3 preferred) and a required VDOT Asphalt Plant Technician certification (plus any other required state certifications).
