Job Summary

Perform DOT inspections and preventative maintenance for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a mobile/field environment. Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, brake/cooling, steering, engines (gas/diesel), transmissions, HVAC, and related systems. Use test instruments, road tests, and company tools to document findings and complete DOT forms. Maintain parts inventory and operate the service truck safely while working independently and coordinating approvals with support teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs for trucks and trailers in a mobile/field environment.
•Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, brake/cooling, diesel steering, engine (gas/diesel), transmission, drivetrain components, and related systems.
•Inspect, test, and road test vehicles to identify and diagnose malfunctions using tools and pressure gauges/handheld instruments.
•Document repair findings and upload required photos on repair orders using a company-issued iOS device and the TRAIT application; complete DOT forms.
•Maintain parts inventory and operate the company-issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections, while managing daily schedule and tasks.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination such as additional certification/education or 5 years related experience).
•Possess and supply required hand tools to perform job duties.
•Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
•Be able to pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment; maintain a current valid DOT medical card.
•Hold a valid driver’s license and be able to maintain the Driver Qualification File; must be at least 21 years old for interstate operating authority requirements.
