Job Summary

Lead end-to-end delivery of features across a high-scale restaurant management and payments platform. Partner with Product to refine requirements, design technical solutions, ship improvements, and support them in production. You’ll drive backend standards while also delivering production React/TypeScript UI work, mentor teammates, and use AI coding tools responsibly to accelerate development. Work fully remotely with high autonomy and meaningful technical impact.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead development of new features end-to-end, from refining requirements with Product through shipping and monitoring in production.
•Drive technical design for significant system changes and set development standards for the Backend team.
•Mentor others and continuously learn from teammates.
•Identify practical opportunities to enhance the existing technology stack while staying pragmatic about new technology.
•Operate with autonomy by identifying problems, proposing solutions, and following through without needing day-to-day management.

Key Requirements

•Lead non-trivial backend work in modern PHP (7/8+) with strong OOP, testability, and pattern trade-offs.
•Ship production React/TypeScript features end-to-end without supervision.
•Experience with high-traffic web applications and understanding failure modes at scale (e.g., caching, queueing, idempotency, observability).
•Practical relational database experience with MySQL (or similar), including reading EXPLAIN plans to optimize slow queries.
•Experience designing and consuming HTTP APIs, including reliability challenges with third-party services.
