Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead development of new features end-to-end, from refining requirements with Product through shipping and monitoring in production.
  • •Drive technical design for significant system changes and set development standards for the Backend team.
  • •Mentor others and continuously learn from teammates.
  • •Identify practical opportunities to enhance the existing technology stack while staying pragmatic about new technology.
  • •Operate with autonomy by identifying problems, proposing solutions, and following through without needing day-to-day management.

Key Requirements

  • •Lead non-trivial backend work in modern PHP (7/8+) with strong OOP, testability, and pattern trade-offs.
  • •Ship production React/TypeScript features end-to-end without supervision.
  • •Experience with high-traffic web applications and understanding failure modes at scale (e.g., caching, queueing, idempotency, observability).
  • •Practical relational database experience with MySQL (or similar), including reading EXPLAIN plans to optimize slow queries.
  • •Experience designing and consuming HTTP APIs, including reliability challenges with third-party services.
