Job Summary

Lead WSP’s California Planning Practice as a senior transportation, environmental, and land use planning leader. Drive growth, client strategy, and P&L performance while managing multidisciplinary teams through planning and NEPA/CEQA compliance deliverables. Serve as a trusted advisor and liaison to agencies and clients, oversee complex transportation planning pursuits and budgets, and ensure technically excellent outcomes. Collaborate across WSP disciplines and stay current on evolving planning regulations and practices.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and manage California-based teams of land use, transit/transportation, and environmental (NEPA/CEQA) planners.
•Provide P&L leadership over projects and pursuits, directing outcomes and managing staff performance and KPIs.
•Oversee multi-disciplinary planning efforts across feasibility, alternatives analysis, site selection, NEPA/CEQA compliance, plan updates, and climate action planning.
•Lead larger-scale, complex transportation planning projects including budgets, profitability tracking, subcontractor/supplier supervision, and contract work.
•Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local agency laws and lead technical aspects of negotiation, presentations, and meetings.

Key Requirements

•Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in land use, transportation planning, environmental planning, or policy work.
•Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, or related field.
•Experience leading projects overseeing others and/or managing staff in relevant planning areas.
•Experience with transit agencies, local municipalities, MPOs, and/or California regulatory agencies.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to present ideas orally and in writing; MicroStation and/or GIS is desirable.
