Job Summary

Lead the technical roadmap for production Conversational AI agents powering ByteDance’s global e-commerce experiences. Drive efforts across LLM post-training and alignment, agent harness/tools, self-evolving data and evaluation flywheels, and low-latency multilingual inference serving. Write core code and design docs, hire and grow ICs, and partner across foundation-model, infra, and product teams while building tracing and rollback to diagnose regressions quickly.

Key Responsibilities

•Set technical direction by owning a multi-quarter roadmap across post-training, agent harness, evaluation, self-evolving data flywheel, and serving.
•Translate north-star metrics into 2–3 high-ROI bets per quarter and ship results.
•Hire and develop 1–3 strong ICs; raise the team’s technical bar through design review and code review.
•Stay hands-on by writing load-bearing PRs, proposing core abstractions, and authoring design docs for the next 2–3 quarters.
•Drive cross-team alignment with foundation-model, infra, product, and adjacent algorithm teams; own sign-off on cross-cutting decisions, including observability/rollback.

Key Requirements

•BS/MS/PhD in CS, AI, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
•Hands-on experience in ML/NLP/applied deep learning.
•Strong Python and at least one of C++/Go/Rust for production-path code.
•Hands-on post-training or fine-tuning of frontier-class LLMs (≥7B, multi-node), not API-only work.
•Led at least one production LLM/Agent system from zero to one.
