Job Summary

Design the enterprise data strategy and governance for a new greenfield program for a large federal civilian agency. Partner with the Chief Enterprise Architect and Solution Architect to define a database-per-service microservices architecture, set data standards and API/data scope boundaries, and establish a consolidated data lake and warehousing layer for analytics and reporting. Produce and document data architecture artifacts for development teams in a SAFe environment and define data lifecycle practices to meet regulatory needs while controlling cloud TCO.

Key Responsibilities

•Work with the Chief Enterprise Architect and Solution Architect to determine the program’s enterprise architecture.
•Design the foundational enterprise data strategy and governance plan, including data standards and patterns for a microservices, database-per-service architecture.
•Define data lake/warehousing strategy and analytics system to consolidate service data for reporting and business intelligence.
•Set data lifecycle strategies for service scaling and regulatory requirements, including sharding, data temperature, and archival handling to control cloud total cost of ownership.
•Produce and document data architecture artifacts and baseline plans to hand off to the continuing architecture team and guide teams during establishment.

Travel: Low travel

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 140,000 - 160,000 annually

Key Requirements

•8+ years of data architecture or enterprise data management experience.
•Experience designing enterprise data models for large, multi-system organizations.
•Experience with microservice data patterns, including database-per-service designs.
•Comfort across Big Data, ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, and analytics/business intelligence systems.
•Experience supporting a SAFe environment or large portfolios of concurrent development teams; ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination.
