Job Summary

Join the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team as a Senior Engineer, using Java to plan and deliver reliability initiatives that make critical back-end services more efficient, stable, and scalable. You’ll lead hands-on engineering and work with your SREM to improve observability via monitoring and logging, automate service operations, and drive engineering standards across SRE. The role focuses on APIs, microservices, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud development in a hybrid model.

Key Responsibilities

•Technically lead a group of engineers responsible for maintaining and improving back-end services for critical customer and/or data applications within the cloud.
•Help shape and deliver SRE goals and vision in collaboration with the Site Reliability Engineering Manager (SREM).
•Identify opportunities to reduce operational overheads through observability and service automation, contributing to major optimisation themes.
•Drive engineering best practices (e.g., Operational Excellence, Security, Quality, Resilience) and set standards across the SRE team and community.
•Estimate, scope, and plan work in an agile environment, delivering initiatives from inception through design and hands-on delivery.

Key Requirements

•Production-grade experience developing and managing APIs using Java & Springboot, with strong understanding of SOLID, SOA, HTTP, and REST.
•Good knowledge of Maven or Gradle.
•Production experience running microservices on container orchestration architectures.
•Experience with API testing using tools such as Wiremock, Pact, Postman, and Cucumber, plus understanding of OAuth-based authentication and authorisation.
•Strong understanding of infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipeline management via Jenkins, with cloud development experience.
