Job Summary

Develop and evaluate novel optical and sensing technologies for future Dyson products. Work across camera systems, optical sensing, machine vision, and multi-sensor platforms, using simulation and hands-on experimentation to prove feasibility and performance. Build experimental rigs, characterize and qualify optical and sensing systems, and develop MATLAB/Python/C++ tools and analysis workflows. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive demonstrators from concept to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

•Research and evaluate emerging optical, imaging, and sensing technologies using literature, suppliers, patents, and experiments.
•Design, build, and validate proof-of-concept systems and experimental rigs to assess feasibility and performance.
•Conduct optical and sensing performance characterisation, testing, and data analysis.
•Develop image-processing, signal-processing, and data-analysis tools using MATLAB, Python, and/or C/C++.
•Perform optical simulations (e.g., Zemax/LightTools), support optical system design, and document results for design reviews and reporting.

Key Requirements

•Degree (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
•Experience developing optical, imaging, or sensing systems.
•Strong hands-on laboratory skills building, debugging, and validating test rigs and prototypes.
•Experience with optical system testing and characterisation.
•Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for algorithm development and data analysis.

Education:Bachelor's in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering (or related discipline)
