Job Summary

Lead and deliver real-time flood forecast modelling and hydrology studies, including building Flood Modeller-based routing and hydrodynamic models, preparing hydrology boundaries (PDM), and running performance tests and rating reviews. Provide QA and independent technical reviews of flood forecasting outputs, oversee production of client/public deliverables, mentor less-experienced modellers, and support bid proposals and innovative solutions. Collaborate with fluvial and pluvial modelling leadership across WSP globally.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide technical delivery (and where appropriate leadership) for flood forecast modelling and hydrology studies, including developing Flood Modeller-based models and undertaking rating reviews.
•Carry out QA and independent technical reviews of existing flood forecasting reports and products.
•Undertake and supervise production of high-quality client- and public-facing deliverables, including visualisation and interpretation of complex data.
•Work with fluvial and pluvial modelling leadership to further develop the flood forecasting service offering.
•Mentor and provide technical support to less experienced flood forecasting modellers, and support (and where appropriate lead) bid proposals and innovative solutions.

Key Requirements

•Excellent understanding of UK flood forecasting techniques, rating review, Flood Modeller, PDM, and performance testing, with proven real-time model development and testing experience.
•Experience undertaking reviews and calculations to satisfy UK statutory bodies including EA, SEPA, NRW, or DfI.
•Strong commercial awareness, including identifying/developing business opportunities and preparing winning proposals.
•Sound understanding of client needs, with a track record of leading and winning work.
•Chartership with a relevant professional body (or commitment to work towards it within an agreed period).
