Key Responsibilities

  • •Receive work orders and instructions, then troubleshoot refractory work at the machine by observing operations and interacting with operations teams.
  • •Remove damaged refractory, dispose of hazardous materials per guidelines, and install new refractory materials in furnaces, hot boxes, and thermal barriers.
  • •Cut brick to size and shape, mix mortar/castable refractory to specific requirements, and construct arches, lintels, and thermal barriers for electric arc furnaces.
  • •Repair or replace furnace castings and make modifications to furnace structure, heat shields, and hot boxes to install refractories.
  • •Operate equipment safely (e.g., cranes, forklift, scissor lift), comply with safety rules, and provide technical assistance to engineering as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum three years of refractory installation experience preferred.
  • •Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and process flow diagrams.

  • •Ability to work from heights and safely set up refractory for movement using cranes/mobile equipment.
  • •Ability to weld and acetylene burn is preferred.
