Job Summary

Provide strategic geotechnical advice to the Technical Services, Operations, and Compliance teams to support safe, compliant underground mining. Oversee strata conditions and underground operations, audit adherence to corporate standards and approved support designs, and design ground support and monitoring systems. Manage the Strata Defect System and Geotechnical Operational Management System, conduct inspections, advise on geotechnical and hydro-geological issues, and mentor personnel on strata support systems.

Key Responsibilities

•Maintain geotechnical oversight of underground operations and audit compliance with corporate standards and approved support designs.
•Design ground support and monitoring systems to support safe and productive mine operations.
•Conduct regular underground inspections to audit installed strata support and strata conditions against approved support designs.
•Advise Technical Services, Mining Operations, management, and operational staff on geotechnical issues to maximise value of the operation.
•Manage the Strata Defect System and ensure compliance with the Geotechnical Operational Management System, including mentoring and training personnel on strata support systems.

Key Requirements

•Tertiary degree in Geotechnical Engineering or similar discipline.
•Proven underground coal experience within a Geotechnical Engineering role.
•Experience using computer aided mine design programs and geotechnical software, plus other business software.
•Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or willingness to obtain recognition.
•Ability to understand business system functionality and provide relevant data for business purposes.
