Job Summary

Operate a range of paving and groundwork equipment to support asphalt paving and related construction work. Control material flow into pavers, maintain correct paving depths and settings, and manage tasks such as curbing, joint material placement, heating units, and equipment setup/teardown. Perform minor servicing and maintenance, inspect and repair equipment, and help with site duties like traffic control and coordinating truck dumping while following safety procedures on job sites.

Key Responsibilities

•Control material taken into the paver and manage material depth and distribution.
•Operate paving machines to maintain a constant flow of asphalt or other material into hoppers or screeds.
•Perform minor servicing and maintenance; inspect, clean, maintain, and repair equipment or report malfunctions.
•Cut or break up pavement, operate curbing machines, and install materials in joints or expansion joints.
•Set up/tear down equipment, coordinate truck dumping, shovel blacktop, control traffic, and maintain regular attendance.

Key Requirements

•Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
•At least 1 year of experience and/or training in a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
•Minimum 3 years of road construction experience preferred.
•Must maintain a current driver’s license that meets state requirements (CDL; Class A and/or B) with possible hazmat and tanker endorsements.
•Must comply with OSHA/MSHA safety requirements and procedures and be willing to work nights/weekends and travel away from home when required.
