Key Responsibilities

  • •Plan and supervise ground investigations (scoping, method statements, logistics, permits) with a strong safety focus.
  • •Undertake soil/rock logging to BS 5930 and EC7; manage sampling, in-situ testing, and groundwater monitoring.
  • •Coordinate and schedule laboratory testing; assure data quality and manage digital records (e.g., AGS).
  • •Prepare factual and interpretive reports, including geohazard assessments, ground models, and design inputs.
  • •Support options appraisal and preliminary design (foundations, earthworks, slopes, retaining structures) with geotechnical colleagues.
Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

  • •Degree in Geology/Engineering Geology/Earth Sciences (MSc preferred or equivalent experience).
  • •Progress toward, or interest in, chartership (CGeol/CEng) with a relevant professional body (e.g., GeolSoc, ICE).
  • •Working knowledge of UK investigation standards and guidance (BS 5930, EC7, CDM); familiarity with GI methods and plant.
  • •Experience preparing desk studies, supervising site works, and authoring factual/interpretive reports.
  • •Data and digital skills (e.g., AGS data, OpenGround/gINT/HoleBASE); experience with GIS desirable.
