Job Summary

Lead day-to-day delivery of geotechnical projects in AECOM’s Belfast Ground Engineering team across the Island of Ireland, from desk studies and feasibility through ground investigation, interpretation, and final design. Prepare and review geotechnical documents, own technical decisions in client/team reviews, and help develop bids and proposals. Mentor junior staff and support budget/programme deliverables while collaborating with colleagues across the UK & Ireland.

•Prepare, check, and review geotechnical documents including desk studies, interpretative reports, specifications, construction drawings, and design reports.
•Own technical decisions and provide active input to team/client technical review meetings, proposing alternative ideas and concepts.
•Prepare bids and proposals for internal and external clients.
•Mentor junior staff and own personal and professional development.
•Lead geotechnical input from desk study/feasibility through ground investigation, interpretation, and final design while ensuring technical quality and adherence to budget and programme deliverables.

Key Requirements

•BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering, or BSc/MSc in Geology/Engineering Geology/Earth Science, or MSc in Geotechnical Engineering/Engineering Geology (desirable).
•Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng) or Geologist (CGeol) status preferred, or on track to achieve within the next year.
•Strong knowledge of UK and Irish ground conditions and ground investigation practices, including correlation and parametric assessment methods.
•Well-rounded geotechnical design experience (e.g., earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, slope stabilisation) and confidence using relevant design software (e.g., Slope/W, Wallap).
•Good knowledge of relevant Eurocode, British and Irish Standards, plus application of CDM Regulations / Safety in Design; clean driving licence and willingness to travel in Ireland and occasionally in the UK.
