Key Responsibilities

•Set the technical direction for Venmo's identity platform, including authentication, authorization, identity verification, and fraud risk systems; own the most complex cross-cutting problems from design to production
•Partner with platform and security teams to align on shared identity standards, reusable infrastructure, and cross-org initiatives
•Lead architectural reviews and define engineering standards for the Identity team to scale and secure its systems
•Mentor and develop senior engineers through design docs, code reviews, and technical debates
•Collaborate with Product, Legal, Compliance, and Security to translate regulatory requirements (KYC, AML, GDPR, PCI) into sound technical solutions

•8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time spent on identity or security-critical systems at scale
•Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

•Hands-on backend experience (Python, Java, Go, or similar) and cloud proficiency (AWS)
•Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform and regulatory compliance (e.g., KYC/AML/GDPR)
