Key Responsibilities

  • •Manage the evening newsroom (3pm–11pm Eastern) with editorial leadership focused on breaking news and early morning news reporting across digital platforms.
  • •Supervise evening news-gathering teams, overseeing performance and editorial direction.
  • •Partner with other news leaders across desks, shows, and digital operations; provide editorial guidance to staff, stations, freelance reporters, and production staff.
  • •Collaborate with desks to identify original coverage areas and help build a robust morning report across platforms.
  • •Ensure NPR News work complies with NPR and professional standards for balance, fairness, and accuracy, incorporating data into decision-making as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •At least 8+ years’ experience managing in news or programming organizations (union environment a plus).
  • •Maintain high journalistic standards under deadline pressure, including objectivity, balance, and fairness.
  • •Demonstrated ability to generate and execute complex creative ideas and assimilate and organize large amounts of information.
  • •Proven ability to consistently work well with others.
  • •Experience working in/closely with digital operations, with ability and willingness to relocate.
