Job Summary

Support AECOM’s Buildings & Places team in delivering fire engineering projects from early concept through completion. Assist with fire risk assessments, evacuation analysis, and smoke control modelling, and help produce technical reports and documentation to support design decisions and approvals. Stay current on fire engineering regulations, industry trends, and new technologies, applying learning under supervision while improving the quality of deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

•Support delivery of fire engineering projects from early concept through completion, developing practical, performance-based fire safety strategies aligned with codes and standards.
•Assist with fire risk assessments, evacuation analysis, and smoke control modelling.
•Produce clear technical reports and documentation to support design decisions and approvals.
•Stay up to date with fire engineering regulations, industry trends, and new technologies and apply this knowledge under supervision.
•Improve the quality of deliverables continually while working alongside graduates and technical experts.

Key Requirements

•Internship suitable: penultimate year of a Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in any Engineering discipline, with interest in or understanding of fire safety engineering.
•Able to work full-time hours from mid November 2026 to mid February 2027.
•Must have full working rights to work in Australia or New Zealand before applying (student and graduate visas accepted).
•Curious and eager to apply studies in a professional environment.
•Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a positive and proactive attitude, adaptability, and commitment to professionalism and integrity.
