Job Summary

Lead WIRED’s Business coverage as a senior editor, reporting to the executive editor and overseeing 10+ reporters and editors across US and UK teams. Set and iterate editorial strategy, build coverage plans, and manage budgets and freelance rosters. Partner with audience development using engagement KPIs, collaborate with digital video to deliver cross-platform storytelling, and mentor talent to ensure KPIs are met.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and continuously improve editorial strategy and planning for WIRED’s Business section.
•Work with senior leadership to define goals and priorities and ensure coverage plans ladder up to brand objectives.
•Manage projects from concept to execution, including assigning, tracking, editing, budgeting, and working with visual, fact-checking, social, and video teams.
•Lead, mentor, and manage a team of editors and reporters across the US and UK, including hiring, performance management, and constructive feedback.
•Partner with audience development to review engagement KPIs and use the data to improve content strategy and output.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 145,000 - 225,000

Key Requirements

•At least 10 years of experience as an editor in a fast-paced, digital, news-driven environment, with at least 5 years managing others.
•Demonstrated expertise covering the tech industry with a strong record of breaking news and extensive sourcing.
•Experience overseeing multi-platform content from brainstorm to execution, balancing daily deadlines with longer-lead projects and delegating effectively.
•Experience and passion for ambitious coverage, particularly around Big Tech and AI.
•Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with fact checkers, copy editors, designers, photo editors, digital producers, social media producers, and story editors.
