Key Responsibilities

  • •Monitor daily smelter or refinery plant performance and evaluate metrics such as heat and mass balance, recoveries, energy use, and throughput.
  • •Complete safety interactions with front line workers and troubleshoot daily process issues to identify root causes and restore stable, efficient operation.
  • •Identify areas for improvement in day-to-day processing with the processing technical team and complete projects to improve process stability and capacity.
  • •Work with the control room and production operations to understand and report on downtime events, compiling and interpreting plant-performance data, KPIs, and metallurgical accounting information.
  • •Support engineering rotation assignments across multiple process areas (as applicable) and present findings for weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting while applying the Rio Tinto Safe Production System.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Metallurgical, Mineral Process, or Chemical Engineering (or related field).
  • •Complete studies within the last two years (2025, 2026) or be working towards graduation in 2027.
  • •Less than two years of relevant work experience (local and international).
  • •Leadership skills, willingness to learn, flexibility and autonomy, and good communication with the ability to work in a team.
